The coronation of Queen Elizabeth II took place on 2 June 1953. Her Majesty travelled from Buckingham Palace to Westminster Abbey in the ornate State or "Glass Coach". The Queen swore the coronation oath, was then anointed, blessed and consecrated before St Edward's Crown was placed on her head. The use of the crown in coronation ceremonies dates from 1660.

To mark the milestone, Australia Post released a special limited edition of 7500 medallion cover featuring the state coach and St Edward's Crown which are depicted on the two medallions along with the 60 cent State Coach and $2.60 coronation portrait stamps.

This cover is numbered  4271/7500
