The 2014 Year of the Horse 1oz Silver Proof High Relief Coin represents the very best in minting excellence and design. The release celebrates the Chinese Lunar Year of the Horse, the seventh animal in the 12-year zodiac cycle.
Each coin is meticulously struck from 1oz of 99.9% pure silver in proof quality.
The coin’s high relief reverse and obverse are minted on concave surfaces to ensure the optimum flow of metal is achieved by the strike of the die.The coin’s reverse depicts two horses standing within a stylised Chinese landscape. The Chinese character for ‘horse’ and the inscription ‘Year of the Horse’ also appear in the design with The Perth Mint’s traditional ‘P’ mintmark.
Issued as Australian legal tender, the obverse of the coin portrays the Ian Rank-Broadley effigy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II, the 2014 year-date, the monetary denomination, and the coin’s weight and fineness.
No more than 7,500 of these 2014 Year of the Horse 1oz Silver Proof High Relief Coins will be released.
A numbered Certificate of Authenticity accompanies each coin.
