On the 20th June 1988 the Royal Australian Mint issued it’s first two dollar coin to replace the two dollar note. With it’s release came the oportunity to honour our country’s indigenous population with Horst Hahne’s depiction of Ainslie Roberts’ drawing of an Aboriginal elder taking pride of place on the coin’s reverse.
In the past 30 years the coin has marked our nations history with special releases which have proved extremely popular with collecters.
